Seems like I've seen a similar question before, in all my lurking, but can't find it now.Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with implements from Tractor Supply? I'm looking first at a box blade and then a rotary cutter (bush hog). Big interest in TSC for me is that they're open late and weekends, while the local dealers are hard to get to with my work hours. But I'm new to owning and using tractors, so I'm curious about the quality, value, durability... I don't consider myself a heavy user... The tractor is just for weekend landscaping and clearing, weekend project kind of stuff.On the rotary cutter...the tractor is a JD 950 (27 pto hp). How big a rotary cutter will that handle? 4' or 5'?Thanks,Steve

Steve, I'll take your last question first. With 27 PTO hp, I'd sure go for a 5' brush hog; not the 4' one. I had a 4' brush hog when I had a 16 hp tractor with 13 PTO hp, and now I have a 5' brush hog for a B2710 with 27 hp and 20 PTO hp. As for your first question, I've had very good luck with Tractor Supply Co. and have bought a lot of stuff from them. I have a cultivator plow and a double buster that I got from them over 5 years ago, and no complaints. However, I also bought a box blade from them about 5 years ago, and broke some welds within a couple of hours, took it back, got another one and promptly broke the welds on it, too. However, I think they just got a bad batch and wouldn't expect that to continue. And I couldn't complain too much, because they'll certainly go out of their way to make it right. Each time they gave me the choice of taking it to a welder and get it fixed and they'd pay for it, weld it back myself and them pay me, swap for another one, or take a refund of the purchase price. The first time, I tried another one, and the second time I took the refund and bought a heavy duty blade of another brand. ....

Im not sure how each store gets their implements, but the store close to my parents (lexingon, VA) carries King Kutter brand equipment. I did a search on 'king kutter' on here and found good comments regarding the brand. One negative is that you have to do final assembly on it. The web page for TSC does not specify any particular brand names, just general specifications. The price for a 4' rotary mower was $489 and 5' was $499, which seems like a fair price and they look rather sturdy and include the stump jumper. ....

I've seen a number of implements at Tractor Supply Co. with either no brand name, or with TSC's name on them, but I, too, have recently seen some King Kutter implements at one of the local Tractor Supply Co. stores. ....

My local TSC does not carry King Kutter yet. I hope they do. I have a 5 foot rotary, 5 foot 3 pt finish and a 3 pt dirt scoop (parked that when I got my loader) all from King Kutter and bought a Quality Farm and Fleet. Good prices and I have not broken anything yet. Rotary is 4 years old, finish is 1 year and scoop is 3 years. I saved a lot of money over major brands and so far it has been a good idea. Attached is picture with bush hog on my B2150. New B2910 coming today!!! ....

Thanks for all your replies. The implements at my TSC are all TSC red, some have the TSC label stuck on and some have no label. Would I be correct in thinking that if the store carried King Kutter, it would be written on the implement?
As far as what I finally decide...fortunately my need isn't immediate and so I have time to shop around and look at auctions and stuff. And my daily drive takes me past or close to most of the dealers, so I can look a lot. I've noticed some differences in thickness of metal and the way some pieces are formed - and the weight, of course, when I compare TSC with, say, Rhino, for example. Haven't asked yet, but I'll be the price is different, too.

Steve, in some cases you'll find one brand name on an item, other times you'll find one company name in big letters, and then "by" another company name in smaller letters, sometimes you find only one name (like TSC) with nothing to indicate who made it for them, and of course, this is true of other products besides tractor implements. Chances are you can just ask and they can tell you who made it for them. And for many implements like mowers, tillers, etc., many (perhaps most) of the manufacturers make light, medium, and heavy duty models. You've started noticing some of the differences, and as you say, the prices differ, too, with such things as thickness of metal, weight, shape of some things, strength (horsepower rating) of gear boxes, etc. ....

unless there are two different rhino brands, it would not be possible to compare rhino to king kutter. i have a rhino tw72 cutter. king kutter does not sell anything to compare with it that i have seen. also, it is my understanding that there is no universal standard for gearbox rating (hp). the manufacturer can label them what ever he wants. ....

i WENT CHEAP AT FIRST WITH A TSC REAR BLADE, BROKE IT AFTER FIRST SNOWFALL,
RETURNED TO STORE TO GET NEW ONE AND BROKE IT AN HOUR LATER. i FINALLY BROKE DOWN AND BOUGHT ALL WOODS IMPLEMENTS. ....
